1.If the signal is raised before school starts, the school will be closed.

Please listen to television and radio announcements before school. 

Once EDB decides to close schools due to the inclement weather, the school will message parents via the ESF hub. A banner will also be posted on our website.

 

Parents are advised to keep their children at home.

 

Teachers will enable students access to independent learning tasks with some year groups having some zoom sessions as described below. 

 

Please note if T10 or Black rain signal is issued there is no requirement to provide online learning, in line with ESF policy.

 

Teachers will send out the links on the morning of the closure.

 

2. If the signal is approaching during school hours, the Hong Kong Observatory will normally issue a two-hour warning period for the public. School buses will depart after an hour and the school gate will open at the same time.

 

The school will notify parents of the bus departure time via the ESF Hub app. A banner will also be posted on our website. 

 

For parents of children taking school buses, please pick them up at the stops as per their usual practice.

 

If parents choose to pick up their children in person, please notify the bus company and the school office.

 

If the above is deemed not possible, the school will inform affected parents that their children will remain in school until it is safe to release them or until a parent or designated responsible adult picks them up. Students will not be sent home on school buses once a Signal 8 or above has been hoisted.

Amber Rainstorm Warning

Red or Black Rainstorm Warning

1. Before the start of school  – the school will close all day.

 

2. During school hours - 

Buses will be cancelled if the signal is still raised at 1.15pm. This is to allow time to contact parents and for you to make arrangements to collect your child  (although we will advise parents to wait till the signals are lowered.)

 

If signal is lowered before 1.15pm then the School Buses will run as normal

 

If you choose to collect your child, when arriving at KJS, our staff will be present to direct parents to the correct shared area to collect their child.

 

Where possible parents should present their children's student cards to our staff while picking them up.   For those who pick up other families' children, a written confirmation (email or text messages) is required.

 

Online/Remote Learning for (T8 and Red rain only)

Years 1-3:

Independent Learning Tasks and Resources: Students will have access to various independent learning tasks and resources.

Teacher Pre-Recorded Content: Teachers will upload pre-recorded lessons and stories for students to engage with at their own pace.

Years 4-6:

Toddle/email Access: Students will access independent learning tasks and resources via Toddle or via the ESF Hub

Live Zoom Sessions (10-20 mins)- zoom links sent via ESF hub in Class Newsfeed

Morning Session: 9am- The first session will take place in the morning to explain tasks and answer any questions students may have.

Afternoon Session: 1pm The second session will occur at 1pm to check in with students and provide additional support.

 

Please remember to stay informed and follow the procedures as outlined above and to ensure a smooth and safe pick-up process during inclement weather situations.
