At Kowloon Junior School, we believe that a strong partnership between parents and the school is essential for fostering an enriching learning environment for our students. We are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for parents to engage with our school community, share their insights, and collaborate with teachers to support their child’s educational journey.
You Tell Us Meetings
At the beginning of each school year, we host "You Tell Us" meetings which provide a platform for parents to share insights about their child with teachers. These initial discussions are vital for understanding each child's unique strengths, interests, and areas for support. We encourage parents to share their expectations and any specific needs their child may have, ensuring that teachers can tailor their approach to meet individual requirements effectively.
Three-Way Conferences
Our Three-Way Conferences, held at the end of term one and in term three, are designed to bring together students, parents, and teachers to discuss progress, set goals, and identify strategies for continued growth. This collaborative approach not only empowers students to take ownership of their learning but also fosters open communication between home and school. Parents are encouraged to participate actively in these conversations, helping to create a comprehensive support system for their child.
In addition to structured meetings, we recognize the importance of informal interactions between parents and teachers. One-on-one meetings can be scheduled throughout the year to address specific concerns, celebrate achievements, or provide updates on a child’s development. Our commitment to accessibility ensures that parents feel comfortable reaching out to their child's teachers whenever they need support or guidance.
Coffee Mornings and Workshops
To further enhance our partnership, we organize regular coffee mornings—a casual yet informative setting where parents can connect with each other and engage in conversations with school staff. These gatherings allow for the exchange of ideas, experiences, and tips on supporting children’s education at home.
We also offer a range of workshops led by both internal and external experts, covering various topics that may benefit our school community. These workshops address areas such as parenting strategies, child development, and educational resources, providing valuable insights to parents as they navigate their child's learning journey.
At Kowloon Junior School, we value the diverse perspectives and contributions of our parents. By fostering open communication and collaboration, we can work together to ensure that every child reaches their fullest potential.
